Holiday Guide to Montgomery County PA

If you are considering purchasing one of the new homes in Montgomery County PA, we invite you to get in touch and learn about the variety of homes we offer. While you’re at it, take a look at all that this wonderful county offers, including a wealth of holiday and winter events and attractions for the whole family to enjoy.

A great way to get into the holiday spirit is with a trip to the Elmwood Park Zoo for the Wild Lights winter holiday festival. Running through December 30, 2024, the whole zoo becomes a magical experience with more than one million lights, including animated light installations. Even if you’ve been before, you’ll find new installations that have been added this year. Plus, you’ll have a chance to meet some of the animals, enjoy holiday music, take some photos with Santa, and much more!

For a truly memorable experience, take a ride on the Twas the Night Before Christmas Train in Boyertown. On December 13 & 20, 2024, show up in your pajamas and enjoy a reading of  ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas in the comfort and style of Edwardian-era train cars. Santa himself will appear with a gift for every child, and there are sweet treats and more to enjoy.

Another fun outing for the kids is Legoland’s Holiday Bricktacular at the Legoland Discovery Center. As well as the opportunity to create your own ornament that will be displayed on the LEGO tree, you’ll also have opportunities to take photos with Santa, and enjoy many other experiences sure to put everyone in the holiday spirit.

The weather may be chilly, but the adrenaline as you take to the slopes is sure to warm you up! Spring Mountain has eight trails, two terrain parks, and four lifts if you’re interested in skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. If that’s not quite your speed, there’s also a full-size outdoor skating rink.

Speaking of skating, Oaks Center Ice is a great place to learn how to skate. It’s also a great place for experienced skaters and even hockey players. You can join a pick-up game or cheer on local hockey teams.

Finally, a magical way to take care of some last-minute shopping is with the Illuminaire Nights at Skippack Village. On Friday nights, December 6, 13, and 20, from 5-8 pm, luminaries line the sidewalks outside the stores and restaurants to light the way for shoppers and diners. Along with the festive lights and holiday cheer, you may even come across some carolers, ensuring a warm and cheerful experience.

These are just some of the many things to see and do this holiday season and beyond. It’s this kind of community spirit that is the reason people want to live here.
