National Intern Day, 2025
At W.B. Homes, we’re committed to building beautiful neighborhoods as well as careers. This National Intern Day, we’re spotlighting Becca Richardson, who has joined us as our 2025 summer intern. So far, Becca has worked closely with every major department to help her discover what aspects of the business excite her most. This also has given her a full-scope view of how each team contributes to the neighborhoods we build.
Becca has seen her fair share of the business, beginning with Lauren Malatestinic, Director of Strategic Initiatives/Chief of Staff. Working with Lauren developed an understanding of W.B. Homes’ internal workflows, on-going project management, and the variety of homes and design options offered to our buyers.
Her time with Steve Sweet, V.P. of Sales and Marketing, was spent learning about our customers’ journey from start to finish. This included getting involved with marketing initiatives, participating in preliminary design meetings for upcoming model homes, and spending time on-site with our Community Sales Managers as they guide homebuyers through their journey. A seamless and exceptional homebuying experience is a primary objective, and seeing this full-circle re-enforces what it takes to achieve that goal.
Since beginning her internship, Becca has found that, “every rotation has held immense value, but the design aspect of the industry resonated the most. Being in the model homes, attending design-studio meetings, and helping finalize model home selections confirmed my passion for envisioning and curating somebody’s dream home. I also enjoyed applying my analytics and coding skills to streamline budgeting, scheduling, and take-rate reporting, tools that ultimately support future company decisions.”
Recently, we had another previous intern celebrate his 10-year anniversary with W.B. Casey McCarroll, now our Assistant Director of Marketing, started his career with the sales and marketing team. After continuing with a full-time position, Casey expanded his skill set, took on more responsibilities, and earned his place in a leadership role within our marketing department:
“I came into the new construction & real estate industry as green as anyone could be, but W.B. Homes offered me the opportunity to get involved and make an impact from day one. My 3-week internship became 3 months, and then finally resulted in a full-time role as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator where I assisted homebuyers in purchasing their new home. Throughout my internship, I was able to study the marketing & new home sales journey, beginning when someone is first introduced to W.B. Homes and continuing through purchase, settlement, and beyond. This taught me to not only market effectively across multiple different platforms but also allowed me to see the value our marketing resources and tools bring to a buyer’s experience firsthand.”
Casey’s story is a reminder of how valuable internships can be, not only for students searching for what they want to do with their professional life, but also for organizations investing in those looking to kickstart their careers.
“The experience and knowledge of the entire team at W.B. is truly second to none, and having the opportunity to learn from those who are the best at what they do was invaluable as someone new in the industry. There’s no such thing as a bad question, and every member of the team was always willing to support me and help build up my own experience. Even now, 10+ years later, I am still learning from my fellow team members each and every day.”
For us at W.B. Homes, National Intern Day is about more than just recognition. It’s a chance to say thank you to the interns who have added fresh ideas and energy to our work, and to the mentors who’ve helped shape their experiences. Whether it’s for one summer or the beginning of a long career, internships here are treated as the building blocks of something bigger. To Becca and Casey, thank you for being part of our story. And to those considering a future with us: your path might just start with a single summer.
